Add, edit and delete an event
Create a carnival event, edit its details, and remove an event entered in error.
Use Add Event when you need one competition rather than a set of divisions, genders and year levels. You can edit its setup later, but check changes carefully once competitors or results have been added.
Start with a carnival whose event types, divisions and grades or age categories are ready. This example uses a grade-grouped athletics carnival. An age-grouped carnival shows Age Categories instead of Grades.
Add and edit an event
-
Open your carnival’s Events list. Check that the event you need is not already there, then choose Add Event.
-
Choose an Event Type and Division. Check the Scoring Method: Division awards points by placing, while Standards and Score use different scoring rules. The event type fills in the result measurement and attempt settings.
-
Select the Genders and Grades eligible for this event. Choose only the groups this one competition covers. If you need a separate event for every combination, use Bulk Add Events instead.
-
Choose Create Event, then find the event in Events and check its type, division, gender and year level. The event is ready for competitors; creating it does not add students to its entry list.
-
To change an event, choose Edit event from its row. Review its current settings before making an edit.
-
Change a setting and choose Update Event. Back on Events, check that the change appears. Review any existing competitors and results after editing an event.
Delete an event
Deleting an event cannot be undone. It also removes that event’s competitors and their results. Check the event and any recorded results before continuing. Events managed by an event pool must be managed through the pool instead.
-
For an event you added by mistake, open Edit event and choose Delete. Read the confirmation, then choose Yes, delete.
-
Check Events again to confirm that the unwanted event has gone. Use Add and remove competitors from an event for an event you intend to keep.
