Set up carnival types

Add, edit and delete carnival types in your school settings.

Your school may run Athletics, Swimming, Cross Country or another kind of carnival. Carnival types keep the event types for each activity together.

If a type was not included during setup, an organisation admin can add it later. Once it is saved, you can add the event types that belong to it.

Add a carnival type

Open Settings → Carnival Types. Check the existing names so you do not create a second type for the same activity.
In Add Carnival Type, enter the name your staff will recognise, then choose Create Carnival Type. Check that the name appears in the list.

The new type is now available when you create a carnival or an event type. Next, add the event types your school runs for that activity.

You can use Edit to correct the name later. A type already used by a carnival cannot be deleted.

Open Settings → Carnival Types. Choose Edit beside the carnival type you want to update. Change the Name, then choose Save.

Check the saved row to confirm your changes.

Deletion is permanent. A carnival type cannot be deleted if a carnival uses it.

Open Settings → Carnival Types, choose Edit beside the unwanted carnival type, then Delete. Check the name in the confirmation before choosing Yes, delete. Choose Cancel if you want to keep it.

Check the list again to confirm the carnival type has gone.
