Enter results for an individual event
Record measured results or use the position buttons, then see the placings on Events.
Once an event has been run, enter the results from the officials’ sheet. This walkthrough uses times from an individual race. You can also place students whose measured results were not recorded by clicking their position buttons in finishing order. Houseplay shows those placings on the carnival’s Events list when you choose Done.
This example has Automatic Event Completion off, so you can finish entering results before completing the event and awarding points. If it is on for your carnival, Done completes an event with at least one result.
Enter times and placings
-
Open the carnival’s Events list and choose Enter results for the event you are recording.
-
Enter the measured results you have in the units shown beside the fields. Houseplay calculates the placings from those times.
-
If you have finishing places but no measured result for some students, click their empty position buttons in finishing order. Each click gives the next place after the measured results, even when the students are listed in a different order.
-
Choose Done to return to Events. The Competitors column shows each student’s placing beside their name.
Notes on entering results
- Distance or score: The fields follow the event’s Measurement Type setting. Enter the result in the units shown.
- Placing-only events: No input fields will be shown. Use the position buttons in finishing order.
- Several attempts: Enter each attempt in its numbered row. The event’s Best or Average setting determines the result used for placing.
- Possible records: A RECORD? badge marks a possible school record for review when the event is completed.
- Missing results: Leave a result blank if it has not been reported.
When the results are ready, see Complete or reopen an event for how completion awards points.
Enter a tie
Equal measured results receive the same placing. When you are recording placings without measured results, use Tie in an unplaced student’s menu to share the latest placing.
-
Open Enter results for the measured event.
-
If two students have the same measured result, enter that result for both of them. Houseplay gives them the same placing.
-
For a placing-only event, choose Done and open Enter results for that event from Events.
-
Click the first student’s empty position button. For another student who shares that place, open their menu and choose Tie.
-
Choose Done. The Competitors column shows both students sharing the same placing.
Tie is available in the menu for a student who has no result or placing yet. When you have measured results, enter the equal measurements instead; Houseplay calculates the tied placing.
