Automatically manage first-round events
Let Houseplay create and size first-round events from a pool’s nominations.
Use this setting when you want Houseplay to create enough first-round heats for the pool’s nominated students. The pool’s Max Competitors per Event sets how many students can be placed in one heat; Houseplay uses that capacity and the distribution method to decide how many heats to create. This example starts with nominations across several houses and no rounds yet.
Turn on first-round management
-
Open the pool’s Nominations page. The students are nominated, but there is no first round or heat yet.
-
Return to Event Pools and click Edit for this pool.
-
Max Competitors per Event is the capacity of one heat. Houseplay uses it with the number of nominations and the Distribution Method to decide how many first-round events to create.
-
Turn on Automatically manage first-round events, then click Update and edit Competitors. Nominations remain under manual control unless you turn on their separate automatic setting.
-
Round 1 now contains the heats Houseplay created for the nominated students.
-
Select a heat to see its allocated students highlighted on the nomination board. Select another heat to see its group.
Houseplay calculates the first-round event count from nominations, capacity and the chosen distribution method. As nominations change, it can add or remove events while the first round has no results. Once an event has a result, automatic management no longer resizes that round. A student’s recorded result or placing also protects their event allocation. Change nominations or capacity before recording results if you need a different first-round arrangement.
You can add a final and advance competitors after the first-round heats. Later rounds are not automatically created by this switch.
