Set up venues and lanes

Create, edit and delete venues, including their lanes and house assignments.

If officials need to know where an event takes place or which lane each competitor uses, you can set up the venue in advance. Venues are shared across your school’s carnivals.

An organisation admin can create the venue, set its lane count and reserve lanes for particular houses if needed. Leave a lane unassigned when any house may use it.

Create a venue

  1. Open Settings, then Venues, and choose Add Venue.

  2. Enter a recognisable Name. The form starts with eight lanes. Use the minus (−) button beside a lane to remove it. In this example, remove Lane 8 to see how the lane count changes.

  3. Use the plus (+) button below the lanes to add another lane. Add Lane 8 back so Main Oval Track has eight lanes.

  4. Choose a house for each lane. Here, assign Lanes 1 and 5 to Wirreanda, 2 and 6 to Tarkarri, 3 and 7 to Kanyini, and 4 and 8 to Yarrabah, giving each house two lanes. Leave a lane on No house assigned when any house may use it. Save with Create Venue.

Check the venue’s lane summary before assigning it to events. If you change its lanes later, Houseplay refreshes lane assignments in uncompleted events using that venue; completed events keep their saved lanes. After assigning the venue to an event, check the resulting lane draw and any overflow on its Competitors page. See Assign competitors to lanes after choosing this venue for an event.

Edit a venue and its lanes

  1. Open Settings → Venues. Choose Edit beside the venue you want to update. Change the Name, add or remove lanes, or change the house assigned to a lane. Choose Save when finished.

Check the saved row to confirm your changes. Changing lanes refreshes lane assignments in uncompleted events using this venue; completed events keep their saved lanes.

Delete a venue

Deletion is permanent. Check events and event types that use this venue before deleting it, and choose another venue where needed.

  1. Open Settings → Venues, choose Edit beside the unwanted venue, then Delete. Check the name in the confirmation before choosing Yes, delete. Choose Cancel if you want to keep it.

Check the list again to confirm the venue has gone.
