Choose the right carnival setup for your school
Choose your school's event groups, entrants and result workflow before building a carnival.
Before you build a carnival in Houseplay, think about how your school already runs it: who competes together, how students enter events and how officials record results. Those choices will help you decide which setup to use.
You do not need to work out every setting yet. Start with the three choices below, then follow the linked guides when you are ready to set things up.
Choose how students compete
- Group by year level or age. Choose Grade for year-level events, or Age for age brackets. Compare grade and age grouping if you are unsure.
- Choose how students enter events. Add selected students directly, or use an event pool for nominations, heats and finals. How will competitors take part? explains these options.
- Choose live or paper result entry. Officials can enter results during the carnival or record them on paper for later entry. Compare the two approaches.
Choose the Carnival Type that matches your activities, such as Athletics, Swimming or Cross Country. It controls which event types are available.
