Copy events from an earlier carnival

Reuse event definitions from an earlier carnival and check the new event list.

You can copy events from an earlier carnival into a new one in the same organisation. Houseplay checks each event before copying it. This reuses event settings, but it does not duplicate the whole carnival or copy individual student entries and results. Check the new dates, program and competitors afterwards.

Preview and copy events

  1. Open the new carnival’s Events list and choose Copy Carnival Events. Check that you are copying into the intended carnival.

  2. Choose the earlier carnival from Source Carnival, then select Preview Results. Review which events say Will copy and whether any will be skipped.

  3. Choose Copy Events. Back in the new carnival’s Events list, check that the copied events are present.

  4. Note that the previous carnival’s competitors are not copied across. Add this year’s competitors to the new events.

Open the copied event and check its division, grade or age group, gender, scoring and any venue. Review the Program: Houseplay shifts a source time to the new carnival dates when it fits, while a time outside the new date range is left unscheduled. Competitors are not copied across; add this year’s competitors before entering results. If the preview skipped an event, correct the missing or invalid school setup and preview again instead of assuming the entire source carnival was copied.
