Complete or reopen an event
Finish an event after checking its results, or reopen it to correct the score.
Complete an event after its available results and placings have been checked. Completion calculates competitor points and updates house totals. This example has Automatic Event Completion off, so the event is finished from Events after results are entered.
If automatic completion is on, Done on Enter Results completes an event that has at least one result. You can still use Events to reopen it. Reopening clears its awarded points until you complete it again; it keeps the recorded results.
Check the event and its completion state
-
Open the carnival’s Events list. An event with results waiting for completion has an outlined completion button.
-
Click the event’s completion button. Review any Potential Records shown in the Complete Event dialog; an organisation admin can accept or reject them here. Then, choose Complete Event.
To correct a completed event, you may reopen it. Reopening temporarily removes this event’s points from the house and champion totals. Tell anyone watching the live scores if that change may surprise them.
Reopening does not undo a school record already accepted during completion. If the corrected result changes a record decision, ask an organisation admin to review the school record separately.
-
Click the same completion button again to reopen the event. The event returns to the results-waiting state.
-
After checking or correcting the results, complete the event again.
-
Open the carnival Dashboard and check House Points. Compare the updated tally with your event’s scoring rules and any bonus points before announcing it.
A manual completion can be confirmed even if an event has no results. If the house tally still looks unexpected, see How student and house points update.
