Live entry or paper-first operation?

Choose how officials will record results and plan the move from paper forms to Houseplay.

Officials can enter results in Houseplay as events happen, or record them on paper and enter them afterwards. Both approaches use the same carnival, events and entrants, so you can choose the one that suits your staff and venue.

Think about the devices and connection available, and whether you need house scores during the carnival or can wait until results have been entered later.

Enter results live

Use live entry when staff can sign in and use Houseplay reliably at the venue. Officials enter results as events happen. An event’s points count towards house scores when it is complete.

Check staff access and devices beforehand, and keep paper forms ready in case the connection fails. Use the carnival-day readiness checklist, then follow Enter results for an individual event.

Record on paper and enter later

Use paper-first operation when officials prefer printed sheets or the venue connection is unreliable. Prepare the programme and result forms after checking the events and entrants.

Before the day, agree who will collect the forms and enter their results. Keep the originals until the saved entries have been checked. Houseplay scores will update after the results are entered and events completed.

Follow Enter paper results after the carnival when you are ready to transfer the forms.
