Choose an event-pool distribution method
Choose whether to mix nominees from different houses across events or group them by house.
When students have nominated for an event pool, Houseplay automatically places them into the pool’s first-round events. The pool’s Distribution Method controls how: it can mix students from different houses across events or keep students from each house together.
Choose the method that fits your school’s event plan before recording results, then check the students placed in each event.
| Method | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Sequentially across all houses | Mixed-house events. Houseplay interleaves the house nomination lists and spreads students across events. |
| Sequentially by individual house | House-based events. Houseplay keeps each house’s nominees together where enough events are available. |
For example, suppose one house has five nominees and another has two, with four places in each event. If Houseplay manages the first round automatically, it creates two mixed-house events or three house-based events.
Check the allocation
Set Max Competitors per Event to the capacity of one event. Houseplay can create enough first-round events automatically, or you can create them yourself.
Check every event’s entrant list. If there are too few events, some nominees may be left without a place, or houses may share an event when you have chosen the by-house method. The nomination order within each house affects the allocation.
Changing the method
Edit the pool’s Distribution Method, then review the events again. Entrants with a recorded result or placing stay in their event; others may move. Automatic management stops resizing the round once any event has results.
If your pool has later rounds, advancing competitors is a separate step.
