Complete the organisation setup wizard

Choose year levels, carnival and event types, houses, and placing points for your school.

When you first set up your school in Houseplay, the setup wizard brings the main choices together: year levels, carnival types, houses, event types and placing points. An organisation admin can work through these before adding students and building a carnival.

This example uses a secondary-school athletics setup. Choose the values your school uses; you can add or edit these settings later.

Set up your school

  1. Open the setup wizard and select Get Started.

  2. Select the grades or year levels your school uses, then choose Next. These become available for student records and grade-grouped events.

  3. Select the carnival types your school runs, then choose Next. Your choices control which event-type templates appear next.

  4. Add each house with its name and identifying colour. Check that all your houses are listed before choosing Next and importing students.

  5. Select the event types your school runs, then Next. You can create more event types later.

  6. Enter the points awarded for each placing your school uses and choose Finish. At least one position needs points. Check the dashboard’s setup progress after saving.

With the school settings in place, you can add students individually or prepare a student file for import.
